Preventive Care

An exam is performed to assess your child’s oral health. It can include a gentle cleaning (even on your lap!) and discussions about growth and development.

Good Dental and Oral Health = Long Term Health

There are many forms of preventive dentistry, which is the practice of taking care of teeth to keep them healthy. This can help avoid cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, and will improve the overall health of our bodies.

Infant oral health exams

Good oral health is vital for children’s development. During an oral exam, Dr. Julie will inspect the tongue, cheeks, throat and teeth. A risk assessment will be made for cavities which are also called caries. Assessing your kid’s oral condition is the first step to achieve perfect oral health, and ensure that every aspect of it is properly addressed. Regular visits include dental cleanings, x-rays, fluoride application, home care instructions and diet recommendations. Your child’s mouth is growing! We will have discussions about growth and development, what to look for and what to expect.

Prevention is better than cure

When it comes to the dental health and development of your child, there is nothing like prevention. Prevention should include brushing twice per day, flossing whenever two teeth are touching, fluoride or xylitol use, and monitoring growth. Preventive measures will greatly reduce the chances of your child suffering easily preventable problems. Dr. Julie and her staff will help you and your child learn the easiest ways to keep healthy mouths!
